Baskets

Baskets

Firebaskets are typically made of steel or cast iron and came into fashion as coal began to replace wood to heat homes in towns and cities. Firebasket designs reflect the era in which they were conceived in the same way as other furniture that we have in our homes.
These days firebaskets are usually part of the overall picture that a mantelpiece and hearth will create to bring a feeling of warmth when the fire is lit. They may still be used for burning smokeless coal, but can readily be adapted to bio fuel, electricity or gas.
