By the end of the Georgian period the casting techniques in the production of cast iron had improved tremendously. By the time Victoria became queen in 1837 it was being
used in quantity for the supply of fireplaces to heat homes. Early and mid Victorian fireplaces are often very ornate with floral patterns however during the mid to late Victorian period the styles became cleaner and simpler with some incorporating tiles.
