Cast iron stoves are popular for the way the iron diffuses warmth giving maximum radiant heat over a period of time. Designs can be cast into the stove panel and also additional thickness given to areas which require greater strength. Cast iron stoves can be enamelled which gives them a lustrous finish and an easy to clean surface. Enamel is a very thin coating of coloured glass which is fired at over 800o C.
